If it's your first time travelling during the COVID-19 pandemic, you'll no doubt notice a few more regulations and rules in place. Follow these tips and make your getaway to Skidaway Island a smooth one:

• Before committing to anything, see if any travel restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get up-to-date information by reviewing government and travel websites.
• You're required to wear a face mask at the airport, even at screening checkpoints. Be ready to adjust your mask to verify your identity when asked.
• Rather than handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, position it directly on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will need to be removed from your bag and presented for screening.
• To reduce handling during screening, place personal items such as your belt, phone and wallet into your carry-on rather than the bins.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA officer will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
